Tour Details

Sibu was founded by James Brooke in 1862 when he built a fort in the town and a small group of Chinese Hokkien traders settled around the fort to carry out business activities. In 1901, Wong Nai Siong led a large scale migration Foochow Chinese people from Fujian, China into Sibu looking for new life and settlement.  Foochow Chinese slowly become the major group in Sibu and surrounding Rajang Basin.  The trail leads you to understand the stories about settlement and 120 years of development in Sibu and Rajang Basin.
