For the “complete Great Sarawak Adventure”, you’ll need this to fill the missing link between Kuching and Miri. This adventure for the first five days is similar to the Light & Easy package. We’ll pick you up from Batang Ai (Hilton’s Lakeside Resort in Borneo) & journey with you through Sarikei, Sibu, Dalat and Mukah. Please click onto that package for more details.
In this Missing Link package, your adventure does not end in Mukah. We’ll bring you to Bintulu, a town famous for its shrimp paste and liquefied natural gas industry. But that’s not what we want to show you. It’s the series of national parks and forest reserves in the vicinity that will interest you.
There are three in the area, one of which houses the Niah Cave. Niah’s claim to fame is its role as one of the birthplaces of civilisation in the region. The oldest modern human remains discovered in Southeast Asia were found at Niah, making the park one of the most important archaeological sites in the world. Other than this archaeological treasure, the other two parks are gems as well. Similajau is located just next to the South China Sea, and Lambir boasts a waterfall nestled among rainforest trees.
Your final destination will be the coastal city of Miri. From here, you can hop on a plane or a coach to take you onwards to your next adventure.
