THE 6-DAY LIGHT & EASY ADVENTURE
A 6 day soft adventure covering Batang Ai, Sarikei, Sibu & Mukah.
We’ll pick you up from Batang Ai (Hilton’s Lakeside Resort in Borneo) & journey with you to Sarikei. Along the way, we’ll drop by at a longhouse famed for weaving fine baskets and floor mats. In Sarikei, we’ll sample Chinese cuisine before proceeding to Sibu, the main town in Central Sarawak. Along the way, we’ll stop by at some fruit stalls for you to sink your teeth into tropical fruits.
Upon arrival in Sibu, you can catch up on your forty winks before we wake you at 19:00hrs for an interesting tour of Sibu’s Night Bazaar, serving up a mind boggling array of delightful food and of course its share of bizarre food. The Bazaar also sells clothings, daily items, handicrafts and novelty gifts.
Other than the Night Bazaar, Sibu is also home to one of Malaysia’s largest market that offers an incredible array of food both raw and cooked. The Sibu Central Market is another exciting adventure to be discovered. Other sights and sounds in Sibu include the Heritage Museum, Iban weaving & sword making, forest reserve, express boat terminal and temple, to name, but a few.
Your adventure continues to the coastal region of Central Sarawak where the Melanaus, one of Sarawak’s 27 tribes, hold centre court. From traditional home stay to deep sea fishing and from fireflies watching to cultural immersion, you’ll discover a world that casual tourists by-passed.
On the final day of your Central Sarawak adventure, we’ll chauffeur you to the quaint Mukah Airport, where you’ll board a twin-otter aircraft for your onward journey to Miri or Kuching. The beauty of this, is that the low flying aircraft gives you a spectacular view of Sarawak’s meandering rivers and green landscape, a visual luxury not available from larger aircrafts.
